Hello again. This is Paul from the vast and mysterious Wunderground Magic, where we've been working on weather control magic. I should have the snow all cleared up in just a few short months. Go ahead and watch in awe and wonder.
KIDS MAGIC CLASSES
The kids’ magic classes are filled up. Last week we had to teach the class how to levitate, just so there would be a place for everyone to sit. These classes are just too popular, so please, please don’t tell anyone about them. That way there’s more magic for the rest of us. Of course, if you must tell, they’re Saturday mornings at 10AM
ADULT MAGIC WORKSHOP
For those of us fourteen and over, the Wunderground Magic Academy holds Adult Magic Workshops the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30 until 8 PM. This coming Tuesday, February 3 we will be learning effects with money, and the very first trick we’re going to do is make $20 disappear.
DOCC HILFORD WORKSHOP
Docc Hilford will be holding a workshop here at Wunderground Magic in Clawson - Tuesday evening, February 10, beginning at 6:30PM. Docc will be speaking about increasing performance earnings. The workshop covers two main topics 1) How to perform quick and accurate readings, and 2) The steady weekly gig.
The workshop is free with the purchase of his "System 88" book (bring the book to the seminar for admission, or they will be available for purchase at the door for 48% off.) Attendance is limited to 20 spaces, so reserve early. Call the store to make reservations.
MAGIC EVENTS
I’ve been enjoying Masters of Illusion on Monday nights on MyTV 20.
The Discovery Channel will be airing “One Way Out” with escape artist Jonathan Goodwin Check your local listings for times.
Magic Weekend! February 21 & 22, 2009 at ABC Magic – Come for the talk about old stuff by some guy from Wunderground.
You can check out the acts and events for this years Abbott’s Get Together at http://www.magicgettogether.com - Keith doesn’t want me to say anything about him performing there, so I won’t.

SO SECRET EVEN I DON’T KNOW ABOUT IT
After extensive market studies, countless (actually just one) naming suggestions, and an elaborate contest, we’ve selected a name for our newest dungeon and lecture chamber – “A Boo Kadabra” Now if that sounds like a name Dave might come up with, you’d be right, but we like it anyway. If you’re lucky you may get to visit it for the Docc Hilford lecture. Just make sure you leave a trail of crumbs to find your way out.
NEW MAGIC
True Astonishments True Astonishments is now expected the end of next week. This is a nine volume DVD set by Paul Harris. It will be Paul Harris' current, definitive, and final legacy. This is a monumental project of the highest caliber from the production to the material... it's simple, elegant, practical, and beautiful. True Astonishments is one of the most important projects to be released in the last 30 years. See http://www.murphysmagic.com/Product.aspx?id=44516 for more details.
Magic of the Pendragons Stage illusionists historically have been extremely secretive about their craft. Not just about the secrets to the illusions themselves—the mechanics are just a small part—but about the real secrets of what turns a stage illusion into a breathtaking moment of pure magic.
Now, for the first time ever on video, Jonathan and Charlotte Pendragon, the "First Couple" of magic and perhaps the greatest exponents of grand illusion ever to grace a stage, lift away the veil and show you the real secrets of stage illusion —the insider information that could only be gained by performing in over 50 countries for the last quarter of a century.
Frozen by Nefesch The performer walks up to a total stranger and asks them if they have a coin which the magician will use. Spectator initials or marks the coin. Spectator drops the coin in the performer's hand.
The performer steps back a few feet, holds his hands at arms length and then blows toward his hand. Billows of "cold breath" puff forth with a cloud of (safe) smoke, like when you breathe on a cold day.
The performer holds his hands over the spectator's, and cold drops of water drip forth. The performer slowly opens his hands, and a chunk of ice falls out into the spectator's awaiting hands. The spectator can then take the ice with them and wait for it to thaw to retrieve his coin...yes it is the same one.
3 Fry by Peter Eggink The magician introduces a deck of cards, and removes three cards from the deck without showing the faces. The three cards are clipped together with a big paperclip, and placed face-down on the table in full view as a "prediction".
Next, three spectators are invited to pick a card from the deck. (No force)
The magician states that the "prediction" cards in the paperclip are the three "soul mate" cards of the cards which they've just picked. Now THAT would be a true miracle. Could it get any better? Read on...
The three freely chosen cards are signed by the spectators and returned into the deck.
Now read this three times:
With no palming at all, you pick up the paper clipped packet from the table very cleanly and openly. The packet is handed over to the spectator(s),the spectatator(s) is asked to remove the paperclip from the packet…, and finds the three signed cards!!!....unreal!!!
Tagged by Richard Sanders A playing card is selected, shuffled into the deck and then...the impossible happens! The performer points out the dog tag chain hanging around his neck. The chain is completely solid and ungimmicked. Holding the deck in his hand, he waves it over the hanging chain, suddenly the selected card jumps out from the deck and impales itself onto the chain.
Take care, Paul
P.S. I already finished writing and mailing this letter without telling you that the secret word for February is “centipede,” so now you’ll never know what to say to get ten percent off your purchases.
P.P.S. Unfortunately, the price of True Astonishments will not be affected by the use of magic words, incantations, or incense offerings – it may, however, be affected by bribes.
