Hello, this is Paul from deep within the forbidden caverns of Wunderground Magic with some of the best kept secrets from the world of magic and wonder. (Let’s see: "smoke and mirrors," "up his sleeve," and "invisible rabbits" should just about cover them. Of course, there’s one more secret. This month’s secret word is “spangle,” but don’t tell anyone I told you right in the first paragraph. They’ll want to read the whole letter. And, if you do tell, make sure you put on a silly mask, hire bad dancers, and get your own television series before you blab it all over.)
KIDS CLASSES
We’re running out of classroom space, so we may be moving the Kids Magic Classes into our secret dungeon, which we affectionately call A-Boo-Kadabra. If you show up to pick up your kids one day, and there’s no one in the store, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve been kidnapped. (Though terrorists have been known to target magic shops to disrupt the designs of deception and generally keep law abiding people from being flummoxed. That and they buy all their thumb tips from here.)
Now I appreciate how tough it will be to take magic classes surrounded by famous illusions like “Sawing in Half”, “Floating Lady”, or “Boy to Rabbit” in a secret underground magical dungeon, but with your help we’ll make it through these difficult times to see the light of day once more. Just stop bringing your friends to class and telling everyone you know how much fun magic classes are. Instead, tell them about the monsters that live behind the curtain. That will scare them off.
ADULT WORKSHOP
Our theme for March’s adult workshop is Rope. We’ll be cutting ropes in half, using ropes to cut ourselves in half, and generally knotting things up. Ropes make great magic props because they’re small enough to carry anywhere, visible to large audiences, and help control unruly audience members.
Adult magic workshops are held the first Tuesday of each month, which this month will be March 3, at 6:30 PM. I suspect that these workshops will be held in A-Boo-Kadabra as well, but I'm not telling, and I expect you to do the same.

NEW AND COOL STUFF
Some of the new magic in the pipe for this month includes Vernet’s Invisible Hand, which is not unlike the “silent hand” I usually get from my audiences after a rousing performance of my famous Disappearing Soap Bubble routine.
The next step up from the Zig Zag Card is the Zig Zag Deck. Put an entire deck of cards into this case, and push the middle right out of it. (Also works with really, really, really short assistants.) And be sure to check out the Zig Zag Rocky Raccoon.
Psychokinesis: Moving Objects With The Mind by Chazpro is our newest book addition. I like it because I can read it across the room without having to get up to flip the pages.
The Encyclopedia of Playing Card Flourishes is a huge 545 page text containing over 2,800 photographs and a wealth of information on everything from the Charlier Pass to juggling cards. This book will keep you busy for years, and it’s here just in time to for the fourth DVD in the Dan and Dave Trilogy.
That's all for now. If you missed the secret word that will give you ten percent off your purchases at Wunderground Magic, it's in the very first paragraph. If you're reading this as part of someone else's newsletter, the secret word is "Sycamore", but we'll have to charge you ten percent extra to make up for all the people who save money by subscribing directly to this newsletter.
Take care, Paul
P.S. The Performers Classes meet every Monday evening and have an upcoming gig at the Clawson Manor. If you are at least thirteen years of age and think you have what it takes to put together a magic act, then join our exclusive group of magic performers as we go beyond technique to work on presentation, staging, character, routining, and patter. Then we'll take what you've learned and apply it in the real world with performances for charities, nursing homes, veterans, and other receptive groups who will give you the stage experience you can't get any other way. (Plus you get a chance to play with some of the really cool props that I hear Paul keeps in the basement.)
