Hello, this is Paul from Wunderground Magic with more exciting developments from the seedy underbelly of magic.
NEW MAGIC DEPARTMENT
In case you haven’t heard, southeast Michigan is going through a bit of an economic setback. I know, it came as a surprise to me when I heard it too. All I know is I’m not getting any bailout money from the government and neither are you.
Now, while I can’t give away free cash, like the people in Washington, I can help you out with discount prices on magic equipment. In fact, we’ve opened a special area in our store selling previously owned props and supplies.
Our creative division (Marie) was considering calling this new area the “flee market,” but I kind of wanted people to actually come into the store, not run away. Then she suggested a “garage sale,” but Ron bought the garage and hauled it off (which was only a problem because it was attached.) “Fire sale” had obvious problems with the neighbors, once the smoke cleared. “Bargain basement” seemed close, but not quite there. So after extensive consultation she dug up (literally) the name “Discount Dungeon.”
(I know what you’re thinking. With a name like Discount Dungeon he’s bound to make some lame pun about prices so low we can't keep them on the main floor, but seriously, have you ever, ever known me to use bad jokes like that?)
We’ve stocked the Discount Dungeon with rare, collectible, and bizarre treasures that would be worth tens of thousands of dollars if they were bought new. It’s an enormous lot of stuff, including illusions, stage props, close-up tricks, and everything in between. There’s almost as much stuff below ground as there is above. I would name a few, but almost all are one of a kind, and unless you’re in the store right now, anything I’d name would be gone by the time you arrive.
These are used props. Some are in mint condition, some are gently used, and some need work. Most don’t include instructions, but we can help you figure out how they work. Sometimes, even we don’t know what they are or how they work, and they’re priced accordingly.
The Discount Dungeon will only be open on Friday afternoons and by special arrangement. So hurry out and get the pick of the lot. Once they’re sold, you’ll probably never see many of these items again.
EVENTS
There are some incredible upcoming magical events in Michigan, but that’s no excuse not to come to Wunderground Magic anyway.
Kevin Lepine will be taping his very first Comedy Central special at the Emerald Ballroom in Mt. Clemans on June 23. Tickets are $12 through Ticketmaster, but we have a limited supply in the store for only $10. They must be picked up in person. First come, first served. Hurry while they last.
Shoot Ogawa will be at Wunderground West on June 17, 2009. Thanks to IBM Ring 22 and The Wunderground West, you will have an opportunity to see one of today's hottest stars of magic in his only Michigan appearance. The lecture will take place at 7:30 PM at The Wunderground West, 6262 Middlebelt Rd, (between Ford Rd. & Warren) Garden City, MI 48135. There will also be a more in depth workshop at 3PM. Banachek will lecture June 29, 2009, 7:30 pm at the Royal Oak Community Center 3500 Marais, Royal Oak. Banachek is the world's leading Mentalist. He is the only mentalist ever to fool scientists into believing he possessed “Psychic powers” but to later reveal he was fooling them. I would tell you to check the Ring 22 website for more details, but there doesn’t seem to be anything about it on there. So just contact the store, and I’ll do what I can to help you out.
HOT MAGIC
