It’s a brand new month, and that means a brand new newsletter from Wunderground Magic. But don’t throw out your old ones. They are all first edition originals and could be worth at much as $1.98 at auction someday.
Hello, I’m Paul from Wunderground Magic. We’re taking down the Halloween decorations and eating all the leftover candy and getting ready for Thanksgiving. That means friends and family and entertaining the children who come over for the holidays with magic and juggling and puzzles and ventriloquism and pranks. I’m working on a new trick. It’s called the “cut and restored turkey.” Care for a slice?
Adult Workshop The November adult workshop explores “Child’s Play.” No, I don’t mean that bad horror movie with Chucky. I mean learning to perform magic for children. This is a favorite class that we only teach once a year, just in time for the holidays.
Adult workshops are held the first Tuesday of each month, which will be November 3, from 6:30 until 8PM for the low, low fee of only $20. Your fee covers all necessary props.
Advanced Adult Workshop For those of you who asked for more of Arthur's advanced instruction, you'll be pleased to know that he’ll be offering a series of advanced workshops for adults ages 14 and over on the third Tuesday of each month. Now you won’t have to wait a month between workshops. (But you will have to put up with Arthur.)
This month's Advanced Workshop is "The Bold & the Beautiful: Bold Handling of Gimmicked Coins.” You'll need to dig out the following from the back of your drawer: ? Cigarette Through Quarter ? Hook Coin (Quarter is recommended) ? Shell Coin (a penny shell is recommended)
As Arthur says (and always proves in his performance), "It's not difficult. It just takes guts." Leave your sponge balls at the door.
Advanced workshops are held the third Tuesday of each month, which will be November 17 from 6:30 until 8PM for the moderate fee of only $30. This fee does not cover the trick coins, but they will be for sale at a discounted price for those attending the workshop.
Arthur has been part of the Detroit magic community for over 30 years. Since 1975, he was fortunate to apprentice with local greats including Milt Kort and Clare Cummings where he learned the basics and foundations of great magic. Starting as a demonstrator for Mike Foydel at Romig Magic in 1986, Arthur worked and collaborated with exceptional talents for many years including Michael Mode, David Wirth, Dave Foydel, and Gordy Russ. Though he left the scene for many years to live in Europe and earn a couple graduate degrees, he never lost the love and appreciation for the art of magic. He’s now back at it enjoying the camaraderie, community and opportunity to learn, share and teach.
Children’s Magic Classes Magic classes at the Wunderground Magic Academy are a great way for kids to learn to perform miracles. Classes are held every Saturday morning from 10 until 11AM deep within the hidden dungeons of Wunderground Magic.
The $75 fee covers six classes anytime during the next six months, a magic kit, a performance mat, a wand, and the special props you need to perform the effects taught in the class each week.
Hurry and sign up now, because the fee will be going up after the end of the year.

November Lecture Surprise I was told not to tell anybody, but the letters of his name can be rearranged to spell “Heff Jobson.”
New Magic We always have new items at Wunderground Magic, but this month we’re especially excited because we acquired the contents of a store in Ohio. They were based near the US Playing Card Company and had lots of rare and unusual playing cards. We also picked up two or three hundred new DVDs that we’ll probably just be giving out for free at the Motor City Magic Convention. (Be sure to leak this to all the other dealers who plan to attend so they can give out free DVDs too. And while you’re at it, tell them to give out free books and illusions too.)
