May Newsletter 1

April 29, 2010

If you've never seen us perform live (having missed the opportunity to come into the magic shop practically any day of the week for 360 days out of the year) I will be appearing on Tuesdays this month at The Black Lotus Brewing Company. For those of you who haven't made it to a magic performance because of the travel distance, Black Lotus is almost fifty feet closer to you (at the northeast corner of Fourteen Mile and Main, rather than the southwest corner) which should reduce your commute time by several seconds at least. Come to Clawson in May for meal and drink specials, take in a magic performance, and discover the wunder of conjuring in Clawson.

Hi, this is Paul from Wunderground Magic with tips and tricks for better tricks to improve your tips. This month's trick tip is "Don't tip your trick." Next month's trick tip is "Don't trick your tip." If you have suggestions for the month after that, I'm fresh out of material.

Did you know that - even though Wunderground Magic's birthday was in April - Doc, Marie, and I all have birthdays in May? I'm thinking magic would make a great present, but maybe we'll do something special instead. Watch this space.

Wunder What's New?
Hobson: Fabulous Mysteries (2 DVD Set) by The Miracle Factory - DVD

Featuring 15 commercial effects. Reveals the secrets of Hobson's show-stopping Watch Steal techniques. These are the methods that Hobson has used around the world to floor audiences and generate frequent standing ovations!

The other effects are all solid and practical mysteries encompassing close-up, card tricks, stand-up, comedy, and manipulations. His Signed Silk in Apple and Double Salt Pour are just two of the many visual ingenuities featured in the set.

You also receive lessons in Hobson's personal arsenal of gimmicks like his Logical Match Pull and Simplicity Microphone Holder. As a bonus, Hobson's explanations offer you extensive valuable professional advice on performing in real-world conditions, routining, and showmanship.

Local interest: Jeff is from Redford and Todd Karr (of The Miracle Factory) is from Southfield.
Vectra Line - 20' Thread - Steve Fearson

This is the dawn of a new era in levitations. Never break your thread again! Steve Fearson's Vectra Line is the strongest invisible thread ever offered to the magic community.

A single strand can hold nearly 1/4 POUND! That's a full deck of playing cards!

Now, for the first time you can safely levitate large items like CD's, coat hangers, scizzors, you name it.
Vectra Line is as invisible as some of the thinnest threads on the market but is stronger than all of them.
Magic Table w/ Base & Drape

A great performance table for beginners. The base height is adjustable. Includes a nice cloth cover with fringe.
Appearing Wand

A stainless steel powder coated model of the Magician’s Appearing Wand. When released it opens out into a Magic wand, (black, with silver tips) about 20” in length. In the closed condition, it measures only 4” inches in length, and may be very easily concealed in your hand. This new Stainless Steel Powder coated model, requires no oiling, cleaning or other maintenance. It will not rust like the traditional steel models. This is a bargain value for the money.
Dove Production Drawer Box

The Drawer Box will produce a load almost as large as the box, after being shown empty. This box in a natural wood finish is a handsome prop (size 10" x 5" x 5"), specially designed for production of a small bunny or a couple of doves. You could also use it for traditional magician's production items, and produce a very large load of silks, flowers, streamers etc.
Instant Card Fan

The magician is seen to hold a stack of cards. With a slight flourish the bunch of cards magically transform into a beautifully arranged fan of cards!! So easy to do it's almost embarrassing.

And Finally

If you subscribe to Crain's Detroit Business (or know anyone who does, or have access to an unguarded dumpster near corporate offices) would you please bring in your copy of last Tuesday's edition. Before using it to line your bird cage, check out page 15, which I've reproduced on our Facebook page. I'm looking for five copies for my mother.

Take care,
Paul
